Description of Color Award: The deep blue color of this gem earns it the "Twilight Blue" color award. Clarity description: The stone is completely free from eye-visible inclusions, and no inclusions are seen under 10x magnification. Gemologist's Comments on Clarity: This blue sapphire contains some minute naturally occurring surface features in some of the facets.

Such minor surface features are commonly seen in blue sapphires over 5 carats. When cutting & polishing natural & unheated/untreated blue sapphires, it is a common practice to intentionally keep certain features of the stone in the natural, rough unpolished form. This is done to preserve the carat weight and maintain the stone's overall shape/symmetry. These surface features, being very minute, are not at all eye-visible. They can only be seen using a jeweler's loupe (10x magnification).

Therefore, they do not impact the clarity or appearance of the stone in any way whatsoever. Fluorescence is the visible light some gemstones emit when exposed to invisible ultraviolet (UV) rays. We've described below the intensity and color of the gemstone's fluorescence under long-wave UV light (LWUV).
